GazeKey is a virtual keyboard that enables hands-free typing using only eye movements and a standard webcam. The system is designed to assist people with motor disabilities, allowing them to interact with a computer without a physical keyboard or mouse.
The application tracks the user’s eye movements in real time and maps the gaze to positions on a virtual keyboard displayed on the screen. When the user focuses on a key for a short duration, the system selects it and types the corresponding character. GazeKey works as an overlay and integrates with existing applications such as web browsers and messaging platforms.
The system also includes features such as language switching, word suggestions, and a calibration process to improve accuracy, while keeping all processing local to ensure privacy.
