This project introduces a feature in Prometheus that allows setting custom retention times for specific metrics or groups of metrics. Currently, Prometheus applies a uniform retention policy, leading to inefficient resource use and higher costs. Our solution optimizes storage management, reduces costs, and enhances flexibility by enabling tailored data retention based on metric importance. The implementation involves designing a modular retention system within Prometheus' storage architecture.
